Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria has condemned insecurity and the incessant killing of innocent people in Plateau State.
This the Group maintained the heinous act poses danger to socio-economic well-being of the people of the State, as people would tag it as Danger Zone.
In a Press Statement jointly signed by the National Coordinator of Group Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim and the Group’s National Secretary Dr. Nasir Balogun, described the killing of 12 innocent Wedding Guests in Mangu Local Government of Plateau State was highly criminal and condemnable.
The Group recalled that terrible incidents of this nature are too common in the Plateau – referring to gruesome murder of a retired Army Officer Major-General Idris Alkali who was killed at Gushwet Village in Dura-Du District of Plateau State, and his body dumped in a well in that village with his car buried in a river.
It stated that It took the pleadings of the then Governor of Plateau State Barrister Senator Solomon Lalong to the Nigerian Army not to revenge the killing General Alkali and assured that those responsible for that dastardly act would be arrested and be made to face the wrath of the law as this ugly incident happened on November, 3rd 2018.
Similarly, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria also recalled the merciless killing of 22 people who were returning to Ondo State from Bauchi, after the Annual Islamic Prayer & Zikr with Sheikh Tahir Bauchi on 14th August, 2021 were killed at Gada Biyu village along Rukuba Road in Jos and pointed out that up till today no serious prosecution of the two cases mentioned since the last eight years!
MMWG maintained that the reason the senseless killings of travellers has continued was that there has not be consequences for the past murderous activities committed by some groups of merciless murderers in Plateau State.
It opined that unless the criminals doing all these are punished to serve as deterrent to others, that nature of crime cannot be prevented or stopped.
The Islamic Organization therefore called for the arrest of all those involved in latest killings in Mangu Local Government of the Plateau and ensure that they are brought to face justice.
The Group appealed to the Federal Government not to delay further action on way forward on executing the court orders on condemned citizens across the Nation’s Correctional Centres who are still being fed with tax-payers money instead of being eliminated according to the judgements of Superior Courts of Record all over the Country further legitimised by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The Non Governmental Organization believes that non-execution of capital punishments of condemned murderers in the past put the lives of the Nations Judges in danger in addition to the fact that it would continue to promote criminality of all sorts as violators of the criminal laws regarding respect for protection for human lives would believe that if they commit similar offences and they are arrested and condemned to death, the Government would not execute it.
The Media Group said the threat of so called Human Right Activists who get paid from abroad should not deter the Government from upholding the rights and following the laws strictly to reduce crimes and criminality in our Society.
MMWG finally called for an amendment of our Administration of Criminal Justice Laws [ACJ] to reflect that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would henceforth be signing death warrants.
The Media Group confirmed that over 2000 prisoners who have been condemned to death and lost their Appeals up to Supreme Court of Nigeria are still awaiting execution.
