Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria [MMWG] has described as sad the sudden demise of two great Nigerian Leaders who departed this sinful world just about 48 hours ago.
These are Former President Muhammadu Buhari and the Awujale of Ijebuland Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
In a condolence jointly signed by the National Coordinator Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi and the National Secretary of the Group Dr Nasir Balogun and released in Abuja today, the Group said the two Leaders were described as ‘Great Titans’ who have left indelible footprints that would never be forgotten.
It said the King of Ijebuland Oba Adetona earned himself significant honour, dignity and glory for his total submission to the Will of Allah and his unequalled leadership values and virtues.
The Islamic Organization explained that the life of the Traditional Ruler which was in service of God and humanity, prompted him to sponsor a Bill that was passed in favour of all Traditional Rulers in Ogun State in order to be recognized with their faiths instead of being forced to participate in customs and activities that are at variance with their religious beliefs.
MMWG stated that by the landmark achievements Kabiyesi Awujale of Ijebuland, had prepared Paradise for himself in the hereafter, as being a King must not turn any Traditional Ruler to a unbeliever.
On Late Former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Group maintained that beyond his legacies of simplicity, honesty and integrity which are well attested to, Nigeria as a Nation must be made to work for its citizens, otherwise the virtues and values of the Leaders would amount to nothing if not be imbibed by the citizens.
The Media Group regretted that for the past 45 years [1980 – 2025], the environment under which past Leaders operated had been terribly at variance with their virtues and values
The Media Group called for a very drastic steps that would evolve holistic pattern of governance that would instil true discipline, honesty and integrity in our ruling class so that Nigeria could work for all good people of Nigeria.
It recalled President Shehu Shagari Government of 1979 to 1983 was not allowed to continue on the basis of Shagari being honest and trustworthy but his Team being corrupt.
While paying glowing tributes to the two departed great Leaders, the Group called for total political reforms that would benefit the people of the Country, praying to Almighty Allah to grant the departed Al-Jannatul-Firdaous.
