A Non-Governmental Organization – the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria, has called on the Nigerian Army to shift the screening of shortlisted candidates for the Direct Short Service Commission Course 28/2024 scheduled for 2 Division of Nigerian Army Ibadan -Oyo State on Monday 11th March 2024 as it falls within the Holy Month Ramadan.
In a Press Statement issued today and signed by the National Coordinator of the Group Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Group stated that the military screening that would involve rigorous physical and mental exercise should not be expected to hold in the holy month period of Ramadan as the Nigerian Army would not want to exclude any candidate irrespective of his or her religious or ethnic persuasion.
While commending the Chief of Army Staff and his Team for their commitment to duty, the Group stated that as a disciplined Force the Media Group believed that the Nigerian Army would not ordinarily want to exclude any candidate from the recruitment exercise; but choosing March 11th that is Ramadan period must have been decided inadvertently – stating that a shift from the choosing date that would not coincide with EID-EL-FITR Celebration is highly desirable and should be considered by the Nigerian Army Authorities; the statement concluded.
