The South-South and South- East Muslim Ummah wish to appreciate and express our gratitude to Mr President, H.E. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent appointments of the executives and National Commissioners of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), of special interest to us is the appointments of Hajia Aisha Obi Ahmed from Imo state to represent South-East region and Hajia Zainab Musa from Delta state to represent South- South region and one of our tutor and Mentor from North West, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman. The appointment of Sheikh Bin Uthman is one that means a million for us in the South-East and South-South regions.
We commend Mr. President for preserving our constitutional rights. It demonstrate the commitment to and the diversity within our nation’s leadership, and they serve as a testament to the recognition of the talented individuals within our communities. By appointing Hajia Aisha Obi Ahmad and Hajia Zainab Musa (and by extension, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman), Mr. President has provided a platform for the representation and active participation of the South-South and South-East Muslim communities within the Hajj Commission.
We believe that Hajia Aisha Obi Ahmad, Hajia Zainab Musa, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman’s appointments, including other commissioners, will bring immense value to the work of the Hajj Commission. Their dedication, knowledge, and experience make them well-suited for these important roles. We are confident that their presence will yield positive impact in the lives of the Muslim Ummah and the nation at large.
We also called the attention of Mr. President and the Federal Government that there is need to rotate the appointment of the national commissioner and Co-ordinator from South-South within the south south states as Delta state has been the only state always appointed for the both positions depriving other states of the region of representation.
We humbly seek the magnanimity of Mr. President to consider our plea in future appointments as we have other capable hands that can equally add value to his good government if appointed to agencies and parastals.
