The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria has hailed the promotion of ‘one of its own’ – Professor Mulkat Ahmed into the rank of substantive Professor.
The University of Ilorin – the ‘Better by Far University’ today released the names of 48 Associate Professors of the University who have now been promoted to the rank of substantive Professors of which Professor Mulkat Ahmed of the Faculty of Education is one of them.
In a Press Statement issued today to welcome the development and signed by the National Coordinator of the Group Alh. Abdullahi Ibrahim, the Group commended the University of Ilorin under the able and dynamic leadership of the Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdulwahab Olasupo Egbewole SAN for its towering academic excellence among numerous academic Institutions in Africa and enjoined the University of Ilorin not to relent in its commendable efforts aimed at raising the bar of academic excellence in Nigeria. It said the academic erudity of University of Ilorin made it to turn out outstanding and credible Scholars that are now serving credittably in various enviable places all over the world to the pride of all patriotic citizens of Nigeria.
The Media Group therefore congratulated all the newly elevated Professors irrespective of their religious and ethnic affiliations for attaining the peak of their academic career and urged them to realise that even as Professors, ‘learning must continue’ as the Holy Prophet Muhammad ( peace be on him ) said ‘acquisition of knowledge should be from cradle to the grave’ – praying to Almighty Allah to grant all of them long-life in sound health to enjoy fully their new status.
The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) concluded its statement by extolling the values and virtues of some past Vice-Chancellors of the University of Ilorin especially Professor Shuaib Oba Abdul-Raheem, Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede and Professor Abdul-Ganiyu Ambali disclosing that the seeds sown by these outstanding academics Vice-Chancellors of the ‘Better by Far University’ have not only germinated but have risen to greater heights than expected.
The Group commended the current Vice-Chancellor of University of Ilorin Professor Abdulwahab Egbewole SAN who is also the the Secretary-General of West African Universities (WAU) for following the foot-steps of his outstanding predecessors in all ramifications and wished him a very successful tenure, pointing out the academic achievements of the new Professors too were all to his credit.
