The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria has described the death of 3 Eminent Muslim Leaders in Nigeria as great loss that would be felt across the Country.
The Group in a Press Release issued in Ilorin – Kwara State today listed the departed as Africa’s 1st Professor of Geology – Professor Jamiu Oyawoye, the Elerin of Erin-Ile Oba Abdul-Ganiyu Ajibola Ibrahim Olusokun who ruled the ancient Town of Erin-Ile for 41 years and Alhaji Yakubu Sanni – an outstanding Bureaucrat who retired as Permanent Secretary from Ekiti State Public Service and who contributed tremendously to the welfare and well-being of Muslims in Ekiti State.
The National Coordinator of the Group Mal Ibrahim Abdullahi in his Press Statement today, extolled the virtues of the three Muslim Leaders with their specific roles in promoting the cause of Islam; adding that with their depature, that Muslim Ummah across Nigeria have lost fine and responsible Leaders who would never be forgotten.
On Professor Oyawoye, the Group extolled his contribution in the area education, science, religious and community development, while it commended the role of Late Elerin of Erin-Ile for his support and advocacy for youth religious and educational development.
In the Group’s tribute on Alhaji Yakubu Sanni – a retired Permanent Secretary in Ekiti State who died yesterday, the Group stated that with the departure of Alhaji Yakubu Sanni, muslims of Ekiti State, have lost a reliable and conscious Leader who was a great Pillar of Islam.
MMWG said within this week Late Prof. Jamiu Oyawoye died at 95, His Royal Highness the Elerin of Erin-Ile passed-on at 81 while Alhaji Yakubu Sanni exited at 74, praying to Almighty Allah to reward these outstanding Muslim Leaders with the best places in paradise (Al-Jannatul-Firdaous).
