It was a great moment of happiness for a well-known Poet and Theatre Practitioner in Ilorin – Kwara State Mr. Ezekiel Ayofe Akorede popularly known and called ‘Torotoro Ayofe’ yesterday when he formally embraced Islam at an impressed ceremony held at the NUJ Press Centre GRA Ilorin.
The convert who officially changed his name to Taofeeq Akorede Ayofe Amusan, said he embraced Islam on his own volition without any pressure or inducement whatsoever from anyone.
He said having studied the three major religions practised in Africa – Islam, Xtianity and African Traditional Religions, Islam is more convincing as a rational religion and has decided to embraced it; pointing out that at his age no one could entice him with any monetary or material benefit.
Speaking at the ceremony, an Islamic Scholar Ustaz Mudathir Maikudi described Islam as the religion approved for mankind pointing out that, it was the religion practised by all Prophets of God.

He admonished the new convert to know that God’s purpose for creation of mankind is to worship God; he therefore enjoined him to make the 5 times obligatory prayers regular in his daily life and stand clear of all sinful acts.
At the ceremony, the new convert Taofeeq Ayofe Akorede Torotoro, launched an Islamic Album for Islamic Propagation.

Titled CONFIRMATION, the Album produced by him praised Almighty Allah and eulogised the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) calling on all true believers in God to embrace Islam which he described as a universal religion.
Dignitaries at the occasion include Alh. Modibbo Sulu Gambari from the Emir’s Palace Ilorin, the National Coordinator of Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria – Alh. Ibrahim Abdullahi, the General Manager of TIWAN TIWA FM RADIO Ijagbo Alh. Nurain Yemi Zubair, Media and Theatre Practitioners and many other dignitaries.

Born in Gbongan -, Osun State over 60 years ago, Mal Taofeeq Akorede Ayofe is married and Almighty Allah has blessed him with children.
Goodwill messages were received from Sadauna of Okuta Alh. Abdul-Azeez Arowona, the Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate and the Islamic Missionsries’ Association of Nigeria (IMAN).
