The new Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been described as God-ordained and bound for success despite Alh. Atiku Abubakar’s desperation for the Presidential seat at all costs.
The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria made this declaration today while reacting to the Press Conference addressed in Abuja yesterday by the embattled former Vice-President Alh. Atiku Abubakar.
In a Press Statement issued and signed by the National Coordinator of the Group Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, the Group condemned Alh. Atiku’s remarks of the much-publicised Muslim-Muslim ticket which he said was over-flogged by some political opponents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu including some desperate muslims who felt that propaganda on it would make Tinubu to lose the Presidential Election; but which later worked for his success.
The Group said while political issues was not its concern as a religious body, it condemns in entirety using religion to divide the people of this Country purely for selfish interest as Atiku Abubakar is doing; adding his failure at the Presidential Polls was destined by God and he should accept it.
The Group maintained that politicians and their followers that use ethnicity and religion to divide the people of Nigeria, are enemies of peace and enemies of this Country pointing out that what President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have done for non-muslims on seat of power with the Muslim-Muslim ticket they got should convince patriotic Nigerians that the fear and concern earlier entertained by some people was absolutely irrelevant and unnecessary.
The two Muslim Leaders have not discriminated against non-muslims to the extent that some non-muslims are now-seeking forgiveness from God for their antagonism against Tinubu, pointing out that ‘they were misled’.
The Group therefore warned desperate politicians and their followers to desist from religious and ethnic bigotry, adding that such had been contributory to the backwardness of this Country; adding that under current Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria was bound to succeed by the grace of God.
The Group however called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to henceforth balance his appointments so that Muslims would no longer be disadvantaged.
ABUJA ARMED ROBBERY & KILLING
On the death of one lady – Greatness Olorunfemi in Abuja following gun-shots she received from an armed robbery gang who picked her as a passenger along Abuja-Kubwa Road.
MMWG condemned the attitude of medical personnels of Maitama District Hospital who refused to treat the victim because of gun-shots without Police Report; which eventually led to her death.
This, the Group said has further exposed the lacuna in our medical treatment in Nigeria whereby, the law permitting emergency treatment of all victims of gunshots is allowed, was not circulated to medical personnels in the Emergency/Causality Centres all over Nigeria.
The Group called for a probe into the unfortunate incident by the Federal Capital Territory Administration and compensation for the innocent life lost to it.
It also called for rejigging of security architecture of the FCT by the new Ministers and clamp-down on all criminals in the FCT both day and night.
LAW ON FAKE NEWS AND REGULATION OF SOCIA MEDIA OPERATION IN NIGERIA:
Meanwhile, the MMWG has called on the Executive and Legislative Arms of Federal Government to stop condemning fake-news and social media spreading false information; rather they should urgently do the needful by evolving laws to curb the menace pointing out that like it is in advanced countries, social media must be regulated for the Nation to develop.
The Muslim NGO justified the promulgation of the proposed legislation by stating that there are several laws binding the conventional media in Nigeria including that of libel, slander and laws on broadcast or printing any material that could breach public peace.
The Group stated that if social media is left unregulated as being championed by the so-called human rights activists, the Nation would continue to battle with crimes and all forms of insecurity pointing out that in US, UK, Canada, UAE, China, India and other civilized Country social media is well regulated; adding that those against regulation of social media are not patriotic but serving selfish and personal interests as well agents interests of enemies of Nigeria, the Group maintained.
